ZixMail for Microsoft Outlook™
During installation of ZixMail,
you are given the option to install ZixMail within Outlook. This
will add the
icon to your toolbar which enables you to send and receive secure
messages with just a click on .
Sending ZixMail
Sylvia and Tom are working on a merger of their
respective companies - obviously confidential information.
Sylvia composes a ZixMail message for Tom and adds
two attachments. Sylvia also copies Mike, her outside attorney.

When Sylvia clicks the
icon instead of the send icon, she is prompted for her Signature
Phrase. Sylvia also has the option to request
a Certified Receipt so that she has documented proof of the exact
time her message was opened by Tom.

Sylvia's ZixMail message is compressed,
time-stamped and sent securely. A completion summary describes how
each message was sent.

Receiving ZixMail
Tom receives Sylvia's ZixMail message in his regular
Outlook inbox.
When Tom highlights the message and clicks the ,
he is prompted for his Signature Phrase.
Tom also has the option to remember his Signature
Phrase while Outlook is open. This eliminates the need for Tom to
re-enter his Signature Phrase when opening subsequent ZixMail messages.

ZixMail then displays Sylvia's message in Outlook.
Sylvia's signature is verified and displayed along with the Certified
Time Stamp.

Receiving email via SecureDelivery.com™
Mike does not use ZixMail so he will recieve his
message through a secure (SSL) browser connection via SecureDelivery.com.
Mike receives an email message notifying him to
pick up Sylvia's message from SecureDelivery.com.

Mike
clicks the link to view Sylvia's message. The first time Mike arrives
at SecureDelivery.com, he is prompted to create and activate a PassPhrase
in order to confirm he has access to his email address.
Once the Passphrase is activated (this takes just
a few seconds), Mike can open his message.

Mike views the message from Sylvia via a secure
(SSL) browser connection.
Receiving a ZixMail Certified Receipt
Sylvia receives a ZixMail message containing
the Certified Receipt that was created when Tom opened the ZixMail
message sent by Sylvia.
The Certified Receipt depicts the exact times when
Sylvia sent the message and when Tom opened the message, as derived
from atomic clocks at the ZixIt Worldwide Signature Server.
Receiving a SecureDelivery Pickup Receipt
Sylvia can also request a Pickup Receipt that shows
when Mike picked up his message from SecureDelivery.com.
