The ZixIt Secure Data Center - including both
the hardware and the software - has been designed for rapid scalability,
robustness and non-stop operations. This scalability and robustness
applies to facility infrastructure as well as network, server and
application architecture.
We have invested approximately $50
million in pursuit of our commitment to be the best secure document
delivery, private email and message tracking service. ZixIt's world-class
data center and infrastructure ensure seamless delivery of your
private email.
The facility itself was designed for
non-stop operation. All infrastructure facilities have no single
points of failure. The building has redundant electrical feeds from
independent utility power grids, dual uninterruptible power supplies
(UPS), a backup diesel generator and redundantly configured power
distribution units. There are multiple ISPs, redundantly configured
DS3 fiber connections and redundant routers - all designed for continuous
operation.
Operations personnel staff the data
center 24 hours a day, monitoring our facilities, networks, systems
and applications to ensure uninterrupted availability of our systems.
ZixIt currently has the capacity to
manage and encrypt codes for more than 100 million email addresses.
Each server network is designed to be layered horizontally, thereby
allowing for immediate growth by adding servers. All server transactions
are evenly balanced across available servers within each application
layer. If more throughput is needed, more servers are added. For
example, if a server should fail, it is simply removed from the
pool of available servers and scheduled for repair. Care is taken
to insure that excess server capacity is available at all times.
All servers are Sun Microsystems, Solaris based systems.
All application systems have been designed
to take advantage of the scalability and redundancy of the network
and system's architecture. No application software changes are required
to dramatically increase the scale of operation.
